Columbia, MD | April 14, 2026

The International Institute of Technology, Education, and Leadership (IITEL) is proud to announce that its Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Karla Bailey, has been selected as a Fulbright Specialist for an upcoming project in Tunisia.
Through this appointment, Dr. Bailey will work with higher education leaders, faculty, and institutional stakeholders to explore responsible approaches to the integration of generative artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, research, governance, and institutional strategy.
The engagement will focus on helping institutions think beyond AI tools and toward the broader questions shaping higher education: How should universities govern the use of AI? What policies are needed to protect academic integrity, privacy, and public trust? How can faculty and staff be supported as AI changes the way knowledge is created, evaluated, communicated, and applied?
Dr. Bailey’s selection reflects her leadership in ethical AI, educational innovation, governance, and institutional transformation. Through IITEL, she works with schools, universities, government agencies, and education leaders to develop practical strategies that align emerging technologies with human-centered values, responsible policy, and educational quality.
“This work is deeply aligned with IITEL’s mission,” said Dr. Bailey. “AI integration is not only a technological challenge. It is a knowledge challenge—requiring institutions to rethink how knowledge is created, evaluated, shared, and protected.”
The upcoming Fulbright Specialist engagement represents an important opportunity to advance international dialogue around ethical AI in higher education while strengthening collaboration across institutions, disciplines, and national contexts.
