Columbia, MD | April 22, 2026

The International Institute of Technology, Education, and Leadership (IITEL) is pleased to announce its membership in the Maryland Tech Council (MTC), the state's largest technology and life sciences association.

Joining the Maryland Tech Council reflects IITEL's commitment to collaborating with organizations that are shaping the future of technology, workforce development, innovation, and economic growth throughout Maryland and beyond.

IITEL believes that education, industry, government, and nonprofit organizations must work together to ensure that technological innovation is guided by ethical leadership, sound governance, and a commitment to the public good. Membership in the Maryland Tech Council provides new opportunities to engage with leaders across industries, contribute to conversations on responsible AI adoption, and build partnerships that strengthen both education and workforce readiness.

"Artificial intelligence is no longer confined to the technology sector," said Dr. Karla Bailey, Founder and Executive Director of IITEL. "Its impact extends across education, healthcare, government, business, and every knowledge-driven profession. Addressing both the opportunities and challenges of AI requires collaboration across sectors, disciplines, and communities."

Through its membership, IITEL looks forward to participating in programs, events, and collaborative initiatives that advance innovation while supporting ethical decision-making, organizational resilience, and lifelong learning. The organization also hopes to contribute its expertise in AI governance, educational transformation, leadership development, and institutional capacity building to the Council's growing network of innovators and thought leaders.

For IITEL, this milestone represents another step in expanding partnerships that connect education with industry, ensuring that institutions are prepared not only to respond to technological change, but to help shape its future responsibly.

"Innovation achieves its greatest impact when technology leaders, educators, policymakers, and industry work together to advance knowledge, strengthen communities, and serve the public good."

— Dr. Karla Bailey, Founder & Executive Director, IITEL
